Abstract: One of the key questions in the CSR debate is determining the extent of corporate responsibility. In this seminar I will suggest an approach to this question by developing an extended view of value creation across supply chains and beyond. This seeks to take into account the whole range of 'good and bad' outcomes of business activity. Firms are subject to public scrutiny for these outcomes and may be called upon to give a public account of their activities. I will also suggest how an idea of public reason may provide a structure for considering what public scrutiny involves. I hope the seminar will stimulate a good discussion on these issues.
