Variations and Change in CSR from a Comparative Capitalism Perspective

Dr Nahee Kang, Lecturer in Development Management, Institute for Development Policy and Management (IDPM), University of Manchester
Seminar: 11 February 2010, 12.15 - 13.30

Abstract: In response to the growing evidence of national variations in the way CSR is understood and practiced across the world, the paper introduces the notion of CSR as a complementary institution to national governance systems. It examines how CSR is understood in the liberal market, coordinated, and state-led capitalisms, and discusses the implications of the growing trend of convergence towards the liberal market capitalism for CSR policies and practices in other types of capitalisms.
